“The community of believers was of one heart and mind, …With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all.” Acts 4:32-33
For 2000 years communities of Christian believers have been witnessing to Jesus Christ. These communities have been persecuted, mistreated, abused, and many have offered their very lives all for the faith of those who would believe, you and me. Communities have been chased into caves, catacombs, basements, attics, and other hiding places but have kept the faith alive by trusting in God and encouraging each other in their faith.
Each generation, witnessing to one another about what God has done for them, has created a world community of universal Catholic believers that in 2007 number over 1 billion. Thru Jesus Christ, God made man, believers try to live a life set by His example.
Learning how to be a faithful follower of Christ is at the heart of most believers. Too many distractions of our modern life distance God and His love from us. The truly Good News is God is alive, He loves us deeper than we could ever love and He longs for our return.
This Christ Renews His Parish process is just one way to stop our busy lives, see past the pains and lies, and not just know God in Jesus Christ, but personally experience Him.
So in the words of our Savior we too, invite you, “Come and you will see”, Jn 1:39.
A Message from Fr. Tom:
I am thrilled that we are able to offer Christ Renews His Parish to our people. The program, originally from Cleveland, has a sold reputation for achieving what it sets out to do, namely enable Catholics to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus and in their Catholic faith.
We are called to be good stewards of the time God has given us. I encourage our parishioners to invest their time in this retreat. That investment will pay huge dividends, not only for yourself, but also for those God has given you to share your life with. Attending a Christ Renews His Parish retreat will help us grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ so we naturally share Him with others. This retreat is integral to making our parish mission become realit: people encounter the love of God in Jesus and are moved to share it with others.
Yours in the Lord,
What will I be doing on a CRHP weekend retreat?
You will meet other parishioners facing the same life challenges – family, career, and society. Participants have an opportunity to hear and discuss how we live as Catholics in our modern, complex, fast-paced society. There will be scripture readings, time for prayer and time for personal reflection. You and your needs will always be respected. The CRHP weekend will allow you to develop a closer and deeper relationship with Christ.
