Bishop Richard Malone has appointed Rev. Sebastian Pierro as the fifth pastor of St. Amelia Parish effective Tuesday, September 5th.
Father Pierro brings to his new position a strong commitment to Catholic elementary education and thirty- five years experience in parish ministry.
Prior to his ordination in 1982, he graduated from Holy Cross grammar school and Bishop Fallon High School and completed his education at Wadhams Hall Seminary in Odgensburg and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora.
He served as parochial vicar at Nativity Church in Orchard Park, Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg and Christ the King Church in Snyder.
In 1994, he became pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk and in 1999 went on to serve as pastor of St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston.
Since 2012 he has been the senior parochial vicar at St. Gregory’s Church in Amherst.
“I am very excited about coming to St. Amelia’s, a large, active and vibrant parish community,” Father said. “I hope to work side by side with parishioners to build up the body of Christ.”
