Thanksgiving Baskets

With Thanksgiving approaching, we are in need donations of the following food items to distribute to our clients – cranberry sauce, gravy, sweet potatoes, boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, pie crust mix and turkeys.

There is a bin located in the narthex to place any donations except for the turkeys which can be dropped off either at the rectory during office hours Monday-Friday or at our Food Pantry on any Tuesday evening between 6:00-7:00 p.m.

We appreciate your generosity on behalf of those in need during this holiday season!

During the past year, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Amelia Parish assisted 424 families consisting of 1,360 people. They distributed 2,055 bags of groceries at an average cost of $30.00 a bag. This represents a value of $61,650.00 to our clients. St. Vincent de Paul’s cost to provide this care was $7,426.00 plus an ad-ditional $864.00 was spent to assist and aide these clients with rental costs and other needs.

The twenty-one (21) St. Vincent de Paul members logged 1,300 hours of service to assist those in need and maintain our food pantry. Our greatest accomplishment was the fact that we did not allow the Covid virus to slow us down. These dedicated members of the St. Amelia St. Vincent de Paul Society kept the pantry open when others in the area closed. Additionally, they provided food delivery to those who had no transportation.

Thanksgiving Day is November 26th. On Thanksgiving Day, Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. and a collection will be taken up to assist our St. Vincent de Paul Society. In your November packet of envelopes is an envelope to be used to contribute to our St. Vincent de Paul Society in their ministry to those in need throughout the year. The funds collected are used to provide their great ministry of care and love to those in need. May everyone be as generous as possible to assist them.

We also express our deepest thanks to all the St. Amelia parishioners for their outstanding generosity and support (food goods, monetary donations, time, etc.) of the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry which allows this ser-vice to be provided to our community. We are proud and thankful for all that is accomplished through the hands and hearts of so many kind and loving people. May God bless you all.
