Life is a precious gift, but also a fragile gift. A member of our St. Amelia School and Parish community: Shawn Wnek, was rushed to Kenmore Mercy Hospital and is in critical condition. He went into cardiac arrest, but the hospital staff was able to revive him. Since that time, he has remained unresponsive.
Shawn has undergone therapeutic hypothermia for 24 hours and numerous other tests. His prognosis is unknown at the moment and what the doctors and staff keep relaying to the family is that we need to give him time to wake up.

The Wnek family – Shawn, Sara and children: Cole and Kendall, report that it will be a hard road ahead for them with hospital, home and daily life bills mounting while Shawn is fighting hard to recover. Sara is by his side daily and the children are still in school doing their best to stay strong.
We ask that our parishioners of St. Amelia Parish and School to please consider two things: first, pray for Shawn’s recovery and healing and second, consider a donation to help the Wnek Family get through this very unfortunate deck of cards they have been dealt. A go find me page has been set up: https://gofund.me/17a83b7a or you can mail in your donation as well to: Wnek Family Fund, 210 St. Amelia Drive, Tonawanda, New York 14150, Attn: Father Sibby.
We thank you kindly in advance for your loving thoughts, prayers and generosity. May God Bless You
